Studio 57 · Indianapolis

About

Studio 57 Photography is a portrait and graphics studio in Indianapolis, known for creative vision, bold imagery and a signature approach to lighting.

Approach

Lighting is the whole method here. It is used deliberately, to draw out the qualities a traditional portrait tends to flatten, and it is why the studio gets asked for the assignments that have to look like something.

Every session starts with a consultation, in person or by phone, so the concept and the images you are picturing are agreed before anyone is in front of a camera. The studio stays subject-only during the shoot, which keeps the room calm and the attention on you. Finished frames are retouched to a magazine standard; raw files are not released.

Studio 57 also volunteers with Flashes of Hope, which photographs children living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers turn hospital rooms into studios for a day and every family goes home with framed prints, at no cost to them.
